Job interview

Tipps for the job interview.

Think about your employment gaps

It is ok to go off the working force for some time in your career, but it should be once or twice and not the rule.

Good reasons for a employment gap could be child bearing, your own or a family member health, sabbatical, raising the kids.

The employer doesn't like to hear appologizes why you have stopped working. Tell him why you stopped working, and why you wish to come back.

From manager to sales person.

If you have worked as a manager then switched working as a sales person, for example, you should prepare for some explanations.

There is no shame in making such career movements, but the employers might wish to know what happened.

Be sure to prepare yourself with answers when it comes down to this.

Frequent job changes.

If your CV says that you have worked for a corporation for 2 years, then became a consultant, then switched back to the working rows, you should prepare a decent answer explaining why these changes.

Describe each decision with the challenges that it has brought and with the things that you have learned about it.

Getting laid off

Staff reductions are very common these days.

Say plain in your resume that you where laid off and not fired.

This will prevent the new employer thinking of you as a both jumping employee.

The better you communicate about your past job experience the better chances are you will reduce the uncertainty surounding your applications and who knows, it might even get you hired.
